One of the strategic initiatives of the M. S. Narikbayev Library is to support professional development and organise training for its users. To help readers navigate the information space, the following sections present a list of subjects and a timetable of the training sessions.

The training on using the library’s various electronic databases is provided from 10:00am to 11:00am in room 135 (Electronic Resources Room)

Monday: Electronic Library System Web of Science

Web of Science is a search platform that combines reference databases of academic journal publications and patents, including databases that cross-reference publications. This platform is developed and provided by Thomson Reuters. Web of Science covers materials on natural sciences, technology, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. The platform has built-in facilities to search, analyse, and manage bibliographic information.

Tuesday: Springer Electronic Library System, IPRbooks

  • Springer is an electronic database that provides access to over 1,200 electronic journals on science, technology, and medicine.
  • IPRbooks is an electronic library in all major areas of knowledge.
  • IPRbooks gives unlimited access to the entire basic version of the system, which includes more than 120,000 publications, such as textbooks, monographs, reference books, and journals on various academic subjects.

Wednesday: AWS Reader, EC MegaPro

  • Automated Work Station “Reader” is an electronic catalogue in which one can find any book on any topic from our library.
  • MegaPro” is an electronic online catalogue in which one can find any book on any topic from our library via the Internet.

Thursday: Electronic database eLIBRARY.RU, POLPRED, Republican Inter-university Electronic Library (RIEL)

  • eLIBRARY.RU is Russian scientific electronic library integrated with the Russian Scientific Citation Index (RSCI). As of 2017, the database eLIBRARY.ru included more than 24 million articles.
  • POLPRED is a unique Russian-language information support project that combines the convenience of a reference system, a serious economic newspaper, and an analytical journal. It includes monitoring of industry and services in Russia and abroad through the media and Internet services; a catalogue of the leading official websites by country and industry; half a million important messages from hundreds of newspapers and news agencies over the past 15 years in an online database, with careful daily editorial selection.
  • RIEL is an information reference and retrieval library system that combines scientific, educational and methodological resources of Kazakhstani universities.

Friday: BestProfi electronic library system

  • BestProfi is a legal reference system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It contains documents from legal practice, laws, and many other legislative documents.
